Our designer Emma went back to her roots in Somerset this weekend. For her there’s no place better.
With six whole weeks of summer holiday’s to fill – why not take some inspiration from Emma’s family friendly tips.
THE ETHICUREAN

Tucked away in a beautiful Victorian walled garden, the Ethicurean is a Sunday Times top 100 restaurant. Visited by Michel Roux Jr as part of his Chanel 4 Hidden Restaurants series, the restaurant combines beautiful food with it’s a beautiful location (overlooking the Mendip Hills). Using produce from it’s walled garden and local suppliers, the restaurant is as relaxed as you can get. If you’ve got the little ones in tow, go for morning coffee and cake, grab a seat outside on one of the long tables and let your little ones explore the gardens as you enjoy the tranquility.
WELLS MARKET
WEDNESDAYS & SATURDAYS, WELLS, SOMERSET
Take a morning to explore the market stalls which fill the medieval market square. From local specialist food producers to hand made jewellery and antiques stalls, you’ll find Emma’s head buried in the silver jewellery or rooting though the book stall for cookery books.
Insider’s tip – If you time it right, you’ll leave the market with an armful of fresh flowers for only a tiny portion of your pocket money as the flower stall starts to
pack up for the day!
CLEVEDON PIER

If you’ve got a head for heights, take a walk down the boardwalk to the pretty Victorian pavilion and grab an
ice-cream whilst admiring the view.
Clevedon Pier was opened in 1869 to receive paddle steamer passengers from Devon and Wales. Today it is a focal point for events in Clevedon and once again you can take boat trips aboard the paddle ship Waverley and the MV Balmoral.
